CANCELLED: JWST Proposal Preparation Workshop

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) is set to launch in 2021. Proposal submissions for the first cycle of observations will open in early 2020.

The Cosmic Dawn Center at the University of Copenhagen will provide a workshop April 15-17 2020 to provide information on the observatory capabilities and training on the planning tools necessary for preparing GO proposals.  Members of all four instrumental GTO teams and an ESA support scientist will provide presentations and assist in hands-on training sessions.  Participants with interests in all aspects of JWST science are invited to attend, though the primary expertise of the presenters is in extragalactic imaging and spectroscopy.

Registration is limited to 50 participants with a deadline February 15 2020.  There is no fee for registration and coffee and lunch will be provided, but registration is required for planning logistics.  Space for additional participants on a waiting list may be available subject to logistics and funding.

A full detailed program will be available after the registration deadline, though we note that the program will provide ample opportunity for hands-on proposal preparation with support from the local experts.

This workshop is being held as part of the JWST Masterclass initiative, and there are additional workshop opportunities across Europe starting in February and leading up to the expected proposal deadline.  For additional information and workshop locations, see https://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/jwst/results.
