Title: Beyond Apples and Oranges
Abstract: The presentation will illustrate and discuss the typical challenges in supervised machine learning while bridging the gap from Linear Discriminant Analysis to Deep Learning. We will use examples from image analysis since this is straightforward to visualise, but the methods are generally applicable.
About the speaker: Erik Dam studied Computer Science and Mathematics at UCPH before doing a PhD in Medical Image Analysis. After a few years as post doc, he moved to industry as a researcher. During 10 years in industry Erik has co-founded two startups. In 2017, Erik returned to UCPH and is now co-heading the Data Science Lab at the Faculty of SCIENCE.
