PhD Fellowship in Astrophysics, PhD Project related to red quasars Niels Bohr Institute

The Cosmic DAWN Center, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in Astrophysics. The project is part of the research project “Quasars in or behind dusty regions”, which is financed by the Independent Research Fund Denmark.

Start date is expected to be 15 January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The project
The PhD-project is related to a program funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark called “Quasars in or behind dusty regions”. The purpose is to study the quasar population with a range of complementary approaches including machine learning with input from public photometric surveys and astrometric information from the Gaia satellite. Follow-up spectroscopic observations with a range of instruments, including a new instrument called the NOT Transient Explorer, is also foreseen to be an important part of the project.
